As the CBK is involved in the regulation of the banking system in Kuwait, Sheikh Salem also holds several other high level positions in the banking and financial sectors as well as in related and dependent areas. Currently Sheikh Salem is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Institute of Banking Studies, the Alternate Governor of the State of Kuwait at the International Monetary Fund and the Arab Monetary Fund, as well as a member of several other boards:The Kuwait Investment Authority, the Higher Council of Planning and Development, and the Higher Petroleum Council.
